Frequently Asked Questions

What is a celebrant?

A celebrant is someone trained to write and lead personalised ceremonies such as weddings, funerals, vow renewals, naming ceremonies, and more. Unlike religious or registrar- led services, a celebrant ceremony is completely tailored to your wishes, beliefs, and story.

Can a celebrant legally marry us?

In England and Wales, celebrants do not currently have the legal power to register a marriage. Most couples choose to complete the legal part at a register office (a quick, simple appointment) and then hold their full wedding ceremony with a celebrant wherever and however they wish- it’s the part that feels truly special!

What types of ceremonies do you offer?

I offer a wide range of ceremonies including weddings, funerals, vow renewals, baby namings, celebration of life ceremonies, and other bespoke events. Every ceremony is written from scratch to reflect your unique story, values, and wishes.

Do you offer religious or spiritual content in your ceremonies?

Absolutely! If you would like it. I’m happy to include religious, spiritual, or cultural elements in your ceremony if that’s meaningful to you. I also regularly conduct non-religious ceremonies. It’s completely up to you.

How far in advance should I book you?

It’s a good idea to book as early as you can, especially for weddings or popular dates.

However, I always do my best to accommodate last-minute requests when I can, so don’t hesitate to ask!

Where can a ceremony take place?

The beauty of a celebrant-led ceremony is that it can happen almost anywhere - indoors or outdoors, formal venues, private gardens, beaches, woodlands, or even your own home. I’m happy to discuss your ideas and help you find the perfect setting.

How long does a ceremony last?

Most ceremonies last between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the type of event and what you'd like to include. We’ll discuss this during our planning so it feels just right for you.

Will we get to see the script before the ceremony?

Yes! I’ll send you a full draft of your ceremony beforehand so you can review it, request changes, or simply feel reassured that it reflects your wishes perfectly.

How much do you charge?

Fees vary depending on the type of ceremony and the location. I’ll give you a clear quote up front with no hidden costs. My fees start from £220 for a funeral ceremony and £500 for a wedding, but I’m always happy to discuss individual circumstances and can be flexible where needed. Please get in touch for a friendly chat and I’ll be happy to discuss pricing with you.

What if I need extra support or have accessibility needs?

You’ll be treated with care, understanding, and respect. If you or your guests have any specific needs - such as mobility support, sensory sensitivities, or interpreters. I’ll do everything I can to make the ceremony comfortable and inclusive.
